Culture isn’t fixed. It can be designed.

Our culture is a combination of how we think, the words we use and the actions we take. When left to its own devices, it takes shape anyway... just not always in the way we want.

But culture isn't fixed.

It can be designed.

Here's how to approach it:

Start by understanding who you are today

Before designing anything, listen. Talk to your people. Run focus groups. Uncover insights. Find out what it actually feels like to work here, what's creating friction and what people genuinely care about.

Define the culture you need

This is who you need to be tomorrow. As the business, strategy and goals evolve, the actions and behaviours you need from people will change too. This is your chance to be specific about the type of culture you need to succeed.

Design experiences that make the culture easy to live

Be intentional about the experiences you’re designing by removing the barriers that get in the way and make it easy for people to see, feel and demonstrate the behaviours you're asking for.

Reinforce it. Consistently

Recognise and celebrate the behaviours that reflect the culture you're building. And hold people accountable when those behaviours aren't there. Both matter equally.

Culture doesn't change overnight.

But with the right focus, intention and commitment, it starts to take hold and becomes your differentiator helping to attract and retain great talent, and shape performance.
